Already mentioned in the 14th century under the name of Truce in the annals Goyen maritime Bordeaux, the city was built in narrow streets and picturesque in the back of the platform that forms the inlet port and was widely spread on the surrounding hills.

This name comes from a deformation of Boe An Aon (Bay of the Creek) in an Anaon Boe (Bay of souls in pain).
It is believed today that the Bay served as a boarding place of the remains of dead druids to the Isle of Sein for their burial.
According to local legend, the city of Ys was in the marsh.

This enabled it to retain its wild moorland at the colorful vegetation, heather, pink arm and other genets of a blazing yellow in the spring, in a sumptuous setting, where rocks camouflaged by lichens complete the master table made by Mother Nature.
